TradeStalker's RBI Update 03/17/10
.................................................
TradeStalker's
R.B.I. Trader's Update
3 / 17 / 2010
(Published Since 1996)
...............................................
Dateline: 6:26 pm eastern time, 3/17/2010
The market gapped up on Wednesday and rallied for 30 minutes
to 1161.50, just under 1162 resistance, and then a drop to
1158.75 followed. That was over updated support and the
market went into trend-up mode. Then, around 1:35 pm a
parabolic move to 1165.50 reversed, and after a 2 point dip
the 1165.25 was tested. The reversal from that lower high
triggered a 1-2-3 top entry at 1164.25 and the ES dropped
another 8.50 points to 1157.75 with just over 30 minutes
left. That was 1 tick over the early low, and a bounce back
to 1162.00 resistance was tested at the 4 pm close for
stocks.
The afternoon reversal looks like it should be the start of
a decent sized selloff short term. The market averages do
not like the thin air up above, and if there is any early
strength on Wednesday it will set up a shorting opportunity.
The highs on Wednesday were made on parabolic run-ups, and
those chasing the long side will be eager to get out if
there is further strength. The daily indicators show across
the board divergences short term, and the Vix gapped down to
a new multi-year low on Wednesday. If that is reversed on
Thursday, and gets back over 17.23, then it's a red flag for
more downside.
On the downside, the Wednesday afternoon lows are the first
key support areas. If the market is going to avoid a pretty
sharp drop, a test of the initial support must be quickly
reversed. If those are not held, or quickly reversed, then
we could see a drop to test the 1149.00-1148.50 zone from
Tuesday. That is now a major support area, and will need to
be defended if the market is just having a healthy pullback.
Lately the drops have been quick to reverse, so if those
areas are tested, and not reversed, then the market is under
the weight of an internally poor underbelly and a sizable
selloff is underway.

answers, and discussions. Everyone is welcome, both "real

Today's Trading Recap: 12/04/09
HOW OUR DAY WENT:
The ES ran up in the first 20 minutes
to 1119.00, just under the last resistance at 1119.50-
1121.00, and reversed. After pulling back, members were
told to short under 1116.00 =new= resistance, and the
bounce reached 1115.75 before reversing. The group was
told that the action was like Thursday, and we got the
bounce highs all the way down to lower lows. Then the
ES bounced to the 1105.50 updated resistance, setting
up another short. The group was alerted to the chance
of a double bottom, and that played out well too.
We get lots of questions about our instant messenger room.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 12/03/09
.................................................
TradeStalker's
R.B.I. Trader's Update
12 / 3 / 2009
(Published Since 1996)
...............................................
Dateline: 6:29 pm eastern time, 12/3/2009
The ES opened higher on Thursday and sprinted to 1117.00 in
the first 15 minutes of stock trading, and then a reversal
occurred and the market dropped sharply. The ES fell to
1105.25, and that was right at key support at the 1105.00-
1104.25 zone. The ES bounced, but the move had a lid at the
1111 updated resistance. That set up a couple of good shorts
at the 1109.50-1110.50 sell zone, with the last one being a
double digit move for the ES. The ES made a tiny double top
at resistance around 2 pm, and then the break of the 1107.50
level brought in selling with about 30 minutes left. The
downside gathered steam and the ES dropped to the 1098-1096
target/support right at the close.
The market broke back under the intraday break-out areas on
Thursday, and after getting the crowd overly bullish, there
was another rush for the exit door similar to last week.
Both the SP500 and Dow made new yearly highs intraday, then
closed under the Wednesday lows. The Vix plunged to 20.61,
close to the yearly low, then reversed to close up 6% for
the day. That sudden shift in sentiment was due, and it
should now revert to the mean. On a daily close-only chart,
the SP500 is still in a 17 day old trading range. That has
compressed the Bollinger Bands on the daily chart, and that
often precedes a sizable trend move. The SP500 Cash needs to
have a close over 1111, or under 1091, to get a break of
this current range.
We get the Employment data before the open on Friday. Right
now it looks like any kind of rally attempt should fail. The
ES met the first good support on the downside on Thursday's
close. If the market can hold over the initial support areas
on Friday, or quickly reverse if they are broken, then the
market might it might have a change to run up towards the
1106.00-1106.50 area before the move reverses. It would take
a break/hold over the 1110.25-1111.00 area on the ES to get
out of trouble short term. If the market gets hit with a
selloff that can not hold around the 1088.25-1087.50 area on
the ES, and 1091 on the SP500 cash, then the market could be
on the verge of a bigger picture pullback that re-visits the
1078.00-1077.50 area on the ES - where the last intraday
swing low was made while still closing in the 1091-1111
range.

The ES opened higher and sprinted to
1117.00 in the first 15 minutes, and then a reversal
occured and the market dropped sharply. The ES fell to
1105.25 and that was right at key support listed at
1105.00-1104.25. The ES bounced, but the move had a
lid at the 1111 updated resistance. That set up a couple
of good shorts at the 1109.50-1110.50 sell zone, especially
at around 2 pm. The ES made a tiny double top at resistance
and turned down, and when 1107.50 broke the market nose-
dived. As was pointed out all day, breaking 1105 meant a
trip down to the 1098-1096 area. In an Instant message
members were told:
Dec 03-15:49) mike: bid 1098.25 that might be the low,
but bid 1098.25 to cover day trade shorts , if short
from 1109-1110, holding some overnight
The low was at 1097.50, right in the 1098.00-1096.25
target/support area as our group banked about 12 points on
the last trade.

R.B.I. Trader's Update
12 / 2 / 2009
(Published Since 1996)
...............................................
Dateline: 6:34 pm eastern time, 12/2/2009
The ES popped into our sell zone in the first 10 minutes on
Wednesday, and it dropped from 1111.00 to 1107.25 before
reversing. Members were told via instant message to cover
1/2 at 1108.50 or better, and tighten a stop, on the way
down to 1107.25. That protected small profits and then the
ES ran up to a new yearly high at 1115.50 before reversing
again. The 1111.50 level had to hold to avoid a top, and the
break triggered a 7 point drop down to a 1104.25 low. The
market refused to break the 1103-1102 area, but had trouble
on the upside still. The updated resistance given at the
1107.75-1108.50 area then offered 2 scalp trades before a
thin and choppy bounce in the last hour of trading.
The SP500 cash and futures opened and closed at about the
same levels on Wednesday, after the temporary breakout in
the morning. The market is beginning to get a bit
overbought, and the sentiment has gone from overly bearish
to very bullish short term. If there is one more decent
rally, and it also fails, then the ingredients will be there
for a decent sized selloff. For now however, the market will
be "okay" as long as the 1105.00-1104.25 area is held. If
the market is still in good shape, then reaching the
1119.50-1121.00 could be in the cards before a decent
selloff occurs. However, if that 1105.00-1104.25 area
breaks, then the downside could pick up some steam and break
towards the 1097.25-1096.25 area before there is a reversal
attempt.
The market will likely give us two-sided action on Thursday
in front of Friday's Employment numbers. Look for early
weakness to reverse to set up a trade on the long side. If
that plays out, beware of a reversal when the upside
momentum stalls/ reverses, and especially if there is a
straight up move towards the 1115.00-1115.50 zone. If there
is a buying frenzy early in the day, that 1119.50-1121.00
area could be seen and the action around that zone should
then be telling as for the short and intermediate term
outlook.

Today's Trading Recap: 11/18/09
HOW OUR DAY WENT:
To start the day, our game-plan was to
get short if there was early strength near the Tuesday
high. The ES reversed from 2 ticks over Tuesday's 1109.00
high, dropping 8.75 points from 1109.50 to 1100.75. The
ES rallied to 1108.00, and members were told that 1104
had to hold the low would tested, and after breaking that
1104 the ES went to 1101.25 for a test of the low. The
bounce off of that level reversed at the updated 1105.50-
1106.00 resistance and pulled back to 1103.00 with an
hour left in trading.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 10/11/09
.................................................
TradeStalker's
R.B.I. Trader's Update
10 / 11 / 2009
(Published Since 1996)
...............................................
Dateline: 5:26 pm eastern time, 10/11/2009
After breaking and reversing the 1060 level in the first 10
minutes on Friday, the ES had trouble getting through and
holding the initial resistance areas. The market went into a
narrow and choppy range, then at around 2:30 pm, a run to a
new high in the 1067-1068 resistance zone. There was a
reaction from 1067.75, but the pullback was just to the
1065.25 level that was previously resistance, and then the
market rallied to close on its highs.
The Columbus Day holiday on Monday will probably be thinly
traded again, as not all of the players will be present.
This past week the SP500 closed higher every day, and there
was a gap up on Tuesday and Thursday that are both still on
the charts. The market was having trouble with the rallies
failing, but still had a good underlying bid on the drops.
Had the market reversal from the 1067-1068 area late Friday
gathered some steam, rather than reversing from its breakout
area, the odds of a top being in place would have looked to
be pretty high. But they rallied into the close, so no
damage done so far.
Most of the internal gauges are either neutral, or
overbought. The Vix gave 1 of 5 possible sell signals at
Friday's close, and a turn up on the Vix on Monday would
give a couple more sell signals. Still, the trends and
momentum are still in favor for more upside. The market will
be okay as long as the initial support areas hold on Monday.
However, if/when a decent pullback isn't quickly reversed,
things will change and a quick change in sentiment could
cause the market to react with a fast and sharp drop.
On Monday look for early strength to set up a shorting
opportunity (or the first pop that fizzles out if there is a
slightly lower open), and if that plays out then the initial
support areas will need to hold. If those are not quickly
reversed on a pullback, then things are getting a bit toppy
and a drop back to the 1060.25-1059.50 area would be key
support. If that area is finally broken and not reversed
right away (like both Thursday and Friday morning) then the
1054.75-1054.25 area might be a magnet before a decent
bounce occurs.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 09/24/09
.................................................
TradeStalker's
R.B.I. Trader's Update
9 / 24 / 2009
(Published Since 1996)
...............................................
Dateline: 6:33 pm eastern time, 9/24/2009
The market opened higher on Thursday, but the strength was
reversed from 1062.00 on the ES and it turned into a trend
down move to the 1043.25-1042.50 support zone. The ES
bounced off of 1043.75 to 1049.00, and then churned sideways
for about 2 1/2 hours. The ES broke lower to 1041.00 and
then quickly turned up, and it started a decent rebound. The
1049-1050 area was updated resistance, and the ES reached
1048.75 and backed off. Buying came in again at 1045.00 and
the ES ran back up to 1048.50 and turned down. That
triggered a 1-2-3 top and the ES dropped 5 points into the
close.
After back to back bad days for the market, a few short term
indicators are getting oversold. However, the mood certainly
has changed over the last 2 days when the talk wasn't IF but
WHEN the SP500 would reach 1100. It still looks like there
is lower to go, however there should be at least 1 decent
rally attempt (especially if early weakness is reversed from
the 1038.00-1037.25 zone) that squeezes shorts and sucks in
some early buyers before heading back down. We get the
Michigan sentiment survey 25 minutes into trading, so if
that happens in the early going then beware that a decent
bounce will set up a shorting opportunity. The 1054.50-
1055.00 area should be about as far as a counter trend
bounce should go if the market is still weak. If the market
gets up there, and doesn't back away, then a better bounce
than expected is underway. If that's the case, there still
should be reactions around the next resistance zones.

Today's Trading Recap: 09/23/09
HOW OUR DAY WENT:
We had a pop up to our 1068.75-1069.25
resistance that was rejected 3 times before a drop to the
1065.50-1065.00 support zone. An instant message was sent
telling members to cover shorts at 1065.50 or better, and
it was just 2 ticks from the early low at 1065.00. The
bounce to 1068.00 reversed, setting up a re-entry and the
ES dropped 5.75 points to 1062.25 - just 2 ticks over
the 1061.75-1061.25 support - then a rally began. The
1065-1066 updated resistance gave us another short when
the ES bounced to 1065.00 and dropped 2 points to 1063.00.
Members were told "beware of a potential double bottom"
which occurred and started a 5.75 point rally to the
1068.75 resistance by 12:30 pm. Then after he FED release
the ES ran up to 1075.75 and dropped hard. After that
occurred, an instant message was sent to members saying:
(Sep 23-15:01) mike: 72-73 resist, they topped if tht
zone not cleared
The bounce fizzled at 1072.25 and reversed, and it was
the start a trend down move of 17 points to 1055.25 at
4 pm. So, for our group it was a very good day. The
I.M. feature lets me help in a very timely fashion, and
our members are loving it!

TradeStalker's RBI Update 09/14/09
.................................................
TradeStalker's
R.B.I. Trader's Update
9 / 14 / 2009
(Published Since 1996)
...............................................
Dateline: 6:46 pm eastern time, 9/14/2009
The market gapped down on the open on Monday, and the move
was quickly reversed from 1029.50 on the ES (key support was
at the 1030.50-1030.00 area) and then rallied to 1040.00.
That was rejected, but the ES held at 1036.25 and then found
resistance at the 1038.50 level. That was a lid for about 35
minutes. Another dip held, then the 1038.50 level was broken
and held on a pullback. Then around 2 pm the market shot
higher, as the ES rallied to the next resistance area at the
1043.50-1044.00 zone. That was a lid for about an hour, but
the 1041 level held and the trend up move lasted until the
last 5 minutes of stock trading.
The market had a trend up day on Monday, with a low in the
first 5 minutes and a high in the last 5 minutes of stock
trading. The ES and NQ both made new highs for the year,
while the Dow did not. The market continues to be very
resilient, and we got the "sell early, buy the first decent
pullback" both together on the open on Monday. However moves
into new high ground have been sold initially lately, so if
the market tests the Monday highs that move will likely be
sold.
On Tuesday we get the PPI and Retail Sales before the open.
If the market opens higher, the move will set up a shorting
opportunity as soon as the upside stalls/reverses,
especially if the Monday high areas are rejected early. If
that plays out, then the market should set up a buying
opportunity IF the ES can hold the 1041.50-1041.00 zone. If
that area is broken, then a deeper drop is underway. If the
1038.50-1038.00 area is broken, and held on a bounce, then
the trends are rolling over and a drop towards the 1030.50-
1029.50 could be in the cards. The market would need to
reverse quickly from that zone, otherwise there is damage
done to the big picture uptrend.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 08/23/09
.................................................
TradeStalker's
R.B.I. Trader's Update
8 / 23 / 2009
(Published Since 1996)
...............................................
Dateline: 5:26 pm eastern time, 8/23/2009
Last week started with the ES dropping 21.50 points off of
the 1005.75 previous Friday close. On Tuesday and Wednesday,
the ES was reversed from just under the 980 level and by
Thursday's close the ES made it a round trip back to close
at 1004.75. I was expecting a selloff from there, but on
Friday the ES gapped up 9 points on the open. That was a
breakout to a new recovery high, and the ES rallied to the
1027.00 before backing off a bit into the close.
The market continues to be very resilient, as buying
continues to come in on the pullbacks. Right now however,
the market should be a bit extended. The closing Trin on
Friday was a miniscule .30. If the numbers were turned
around, that is the same as a closing Trin at 3.40. Those
are short term extremes that tend to mark a turn in the
trend within the next 7 trading hours. In addition, the
short term gauges are at big extremes on the overbought
side. Finally, the Vix jumped way up on Monday and it gave a
couple buy signals, but at Friday's close we had the
opposite and one Vix sell signal.
So, it looks like the market should pull back some early in
the week, and then when we get to Wednesday the end of month
upside bias should take hold and give the market a lift. On
Monday look for early strength to set up a shorting
opportunity. However, as long as the ES doesn't break the
1021.00-1020.50 area, the trends will still point higher. If
that area breaks, there should be strong support around the
1014.75-1014.00 area that should hold unless the market is
losing its strength.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 07/14/09
.................................................
TradeStalker's
R.B.I. Trader's Update
7 / 14 / 2009
(Published Since 1996)
...............................................
Dateline: 6:56 pm eastern time, 7/14/2009
We were looking to short early strength on Tuesday, and the
market opened higher and then reversed about 15 minutes into
trading. It was also noted that as long as the initial
support held on the first decent pullback it would set up a
buying opportunity. The initial support areas were at
891.50-890.75 on the ES, at 1438.00-1437.50 on the NQ and at
8230-8227 on the YM and the lows were made at 892.50 on the
ES, 1437.25 on the NQ and 8231 on the YM. Those areas were
all bought, and with the market holding the initial support
across the board, a good bounce followed. After reaching
902.00 around noon, the market pulled back but wouldn't
break. Buyers stepped back to the plate and took the market
to token higher highs by the close.
After the bell, earnings reports have the market up quite a
bit after hours. We get the CPI before stocks open, and then
at 2 pm we get the release of the Fed Minutes. The internal
gauges are getting short term overbought, and if the Vix
reverses it will give a number of sell signals. However, the
market has good momentum going on the upside and it will
take some doing to turn it back to the downside.
On Wednesday look for a shorting opportunity if the market
gaps up and then reverses within the first 20 minutes of
trading. If the market pulls back to test the Tuesday highs,
it should turn back up if the market is strong. If this is a
move that is reversed early, and doesn't get footing and
turn back up near the Tuesday highs, then a trend down day
could develop. If a pullback cannot hold at the 900.50-
899.75 area on the ES on Wednesday, then the market has
something wrong with it and the Wednesday highs could then
turn out to be a short to intermediate term top.

Today's Trading Recap: 07/07/09
HOW OUR DAY WENT: The ES broke the 891.75-891.25 zone
in the first 5 minutes and that put the pressure on. The
ES fell to 882.25, at the 882.50-881.50 key support, then
bounced in labored fashion. The ES reversed from 888.25,
just 1 tick under the 888.50-889.50 updated resistance
area, then fell to the 878.00 level. That was right at
the last support areas listed last night, the 878.75-
877.75 zone, where the market firmed up and bounced but
but the ES then dropped to make its low with 5 minutes
left as member were told was a possibility.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 06/04/09
.................................................
TradeStalker's
R.B.I. Trader's Update
6 / 4 / 2009
(Published Since 1996)
...............................................
Dateline: 5:41 pm eastern time, 6/4/2009
In last night's update I stated:
"If there is early strength, it will set up a good
shorting opportunity. Thereafter, it looks like the
initial support areas should be pivotal. If they hold,
then the bulls are in charge and the market should head
back up into the 930's."
The early game-plan worked out perfectly. The market opened
higher on Thursday and the early strength was sold as the ES
stalled and reversed from 935.75 about 15 minutes into the
trading day. The drop took the ES down to the pivotal
928.00-927.50 area, and then turned back up. The ES stalled
and made a little double top at 938.00 and then gave a pull
back to updated support at the 933.50-932.50 area. Buying
came in and the ES rallied to 941.75 by 2pm. That was a lid
and the ES backed off to 938.00 and then turned back up. In
a very ragged and choppy fashion, the market worked its way
back to make token higher highs in the final minutes of
stock trading.
We get the Jobs data before the open on Friday, and that
will dictate the early action. For now, it looks like the
market needs to stay over the initial support areas to avoid
turning the trends from up to down. On the other side of the
coin, a move over the initial resistance that isn't quickly
reversed could give the ES a run to test the 947.25-948.00
area. The market has been coming back after all of the sell-
offs and made higher highs. Another failure and reversal
from near the 950 area could start another sizable selloff
short term.
If there is a gap up open on Friday and it's less than 4
points on the ES, look for a shorting opportunity to start
the day. If there is a gap up greater than 4 ES points, then
it could cause a squeeze towards the 950 level. On the
downside, if the 938.25-938.00 area is broken, and not
reversed, then the market could be in for a down day and
shorting bounces would offer the better odds trades.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 06/03/09
.................................................
TradeStalker's
R.B.I. Trader's Update
6 / 3 / 2009
(Published Since 1996)
...............................................
Dateline: 8:03 pm eastern time, 6/3/2009
We came into Wednesday looking for lower prices (and short
from Tuesday if you followed along with me in the "instant
message" room yesterday afternoon) and the ES opened down 7
points. The market bounced off of the 927.75-927.00 zone,
but the move failed and the market rolled back over. It was
trend down to the 923.00 level on the ES, just over the 922-
920 updated support, and the market bounced back. That
bounce stalled and reversed from the 927.50 updated
resistance, and then the market made one more push lower. A
token lower low at 922.50 on the ES was reversed within 30
minutes left in stock trading and rallied back to 932.00
into the close.
The internal gauges are now in neutral ground with
Wednesday's poor performance. It looks like a trading range
could be what we get on Thursday. The Nasdaq looks stronger
than the ES if there is a decent bounce, and it should lead
the action. It held at a higher low intraday on Wednesday,
while the ES and Dow had to reverse from lower lows before a
rally.
If there is early strength, it will set up a good shorting
opportunity. Thereafter, it looks like the initial support
areas should be pivotal. If they hold, then the bulls are in
charge and the market should head back up into the 930's. If
the initial support isn't held, then the 923.00-922.50 area
on the ES will need to hold as that was solid support on
Wednesday.

...............................................
If
the initial support isn't held, then the 923.00-922.50 area
on the ES will need to hold as that was solid support on
Wednesday.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 05/25/09
.................................................
TradeStalker's
R.B.I. Trader's Update
5 / 25 / 2009
(Published Since 1996)
...............................................
Dateline: 11:12 am eastern time, 5/25/2009
The ES popped up on Friday's open and it was sold at the
890.00-891.00 initial resistance zone. The ES dropped from
890.75 to the 882.00 key support before turning back up. The
market bounced back, but lost momentum at the 895.25-896.00
resistance zone. That was a lid on the bounce, and after
reaching 895.50 with 45 minutes left in stock trading,
selling came in and took the market back into the loss
columns by the close. The ES reached 883.25 before a small
bounce into settlement.
The ES made an inside day on Friday. The market has been
range bound after falling from 927 on the ES. The 923 to 878
area is the general area and a convincing break out of the
range is needed to get a new trend in force. The internal
gauges still look poor. In addition, the McClellan
Oscillator had a tiny 2 point change on Friday. That tends
to precede a sizable move. Given the recent action, the odds
favor more to the downside. If there is a solid break of the
877.75-876.75 area on the ES, it could have another 15
points to go on the downside before getting a bounce.
On Tuesday look for early strength that fizzles around the
initial resistance to set up a shorting opportunity. If that
plays out and the market breaks the 882 level, then the
double bottom at the 5-15 and 5-21 lows on the Dow and SP500
should be tested or broken. There is still an unfilled gap
just under last week's lows down at 8212.41 on the Dow cash
and 877.52 on the SP500 cash. If the market breaks those, it
will need to reverse quickly in order to avoid a drop
towards the 873.00-872.50 at a minimum. However, if the
market doesn't follow through on the downside, and instead
holds over the 895.00-895.50 resistance area on the ES, then
the bulls could run the market back towards the 914-915 area
one more time.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 05/10/09
.................................................
TradeStalker's
R.B.I. Trader's Update
5 / 10 / 2009
(Published Since 1996)
...............................................
Dateline: 4:02 pm eastern time, 5/10/2009
The market started the week on a soft note, but the market
rallied back to new highs for the move on Wednesday and
Friday. The market had gap opens almost every day, and on
Friday the upside stalled and reversed about 20 minutes into
trading. A drop from 923.75 to 909.75 was over about an hour
into the trading day, and then a trend up grind followed.
After getting through 923 on the ES, a sprint to the 927-928
zone occurred but the move was sold into. A pullback to
920.50 occurred and then the market firmed into the close.
The Nasdaq 100 didn't keep up with the blue chips to end the
week, but the SP500 and Dow made new highs for this leg up.
The market has been surprisingly resilient. However, with
the ES closing up 17.75 points while the NQ closed down 5.00
points on Friday, that divergence might be telling. This is
one of the strongest and longest rallies since something
similar happened in 2001. If there is going to be a sizable
correction, or break down of this current rally, it looks
like the SP500 cash needs to close under 907. The market
could be topping out up here, however unless/until there is
a close back under 907, then a drop is just a pullback in an
uptrend.
On Monday look to short early strength if it stalls/reverses
in the first 20 to 40 minutes of trading. If that plays out,
then it looks like the bulls need to hold the 918.50-918.00
area on the ES, or quickly reverse if that is broken. If it
doesn't hold, then the bounces will likely make good
shorting opportunities down towards the 910.50-909.75 area.
If the market falls much further than that, then it will be
in danger of a bigger picture top. If the market opens lower
on Monday instead, beware of a reversal back up to trade in
the early going. That bounce should fail around the Friday
highs if there is going to be a pullback. If the move
fizzles after making a higher high than on Friday, then it
should offer a good shorting opportunity.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 04/28/09
.................................................
TradeStalker's
R.B.I. Trader's Update
4 / 28 / 2009
(Published Since 1996)
...............................................
Dateline: 7:05 pm eastern time, 4/28/2009
The ES opened down about 12 points on Tuesday and then from
842.75 the ES turned back up and rallied into late morning.
A double top formed, but while the NQ was dropping steadily,
the ES chopped in a range, and then the market made a run to
higher highs. The ES reached 861.50, just above the Monday
breakdown level, and the move reversed. Unable to stay over
the 860 level, the ES dropped another 10 points to 850.25
just before the close.
The market is acting tired, and that's not good near the top
of the current trading range. Some of the internal momentum
gauges are rolling over in the meantime. On Tuesday there
was another gap down open that then turned into a decent
rally. That's twice this week, and it happened a few times
the previous week. The 2 reversals morning reversals were
reversed around noon and 11am this week. When buyers don't
aggressively buy the early weakness, then things could get a
bit skittish on the downside.
We get the Fed interest rate policy statement on Wednesday
around 2:15pm eastern time. If there is early weakness,
beware of yet another reversal to set up a quick trade on
the long side. If that plays out, look for a shorting
opportunity as soon as the move fizzles/reverses as the
first decent rally will likely be sold in to. The ES needs
to get over 861 and not quickly reverse to get a short
squeeze going. Unless the market can show that strength, the
bounces are better odds trading opportunities until the
market sells off or gets very oversold near a good support
area.

Unless the market can show that strength, the
bounces are better odds trading opportunities until the
market sells off or gets very oversold near a good support
area.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 04/08/09

TradeStalker's
R.B.I. Trader's Update
4 / 8 / 2009
(Published Since 1996)
...............................................
Dateline: 5:44 pm eastern time, 4/8/2009
The early game-plan worked out perfectly on Wednesday. The
early strength was reversed 20 minutes into the trading day,
and from an 821.75 high the ES dropped to the 811.00 level.
That was the test of Tuesday's low we were looking for, and
the market firmed and then turned back up. The rally fizzled
out after the ES poked over 825 and reversed. Buyers backed
away, and shorts jumped on, and the ES spilled back to
811.75 with just under an hour left in trading. Buyers
stepped to the plate and the market ended the day in a nice
uptrend as the ES rallied back to 823.00 just before
settlement.
The two-sided action that was expected set up some good
trading opportunities on Wednesday. The market has a pretty
solid bid when the downside stalls out and begins to turn
up. However, when the market gets back to what feels like
thin air, the selling starts and buyers back off until the
downside stalls. The market still has work to do to avoid a
bigger picture top, but it looks like a break of the 811-810
area on the ES is what it will take to break the market and
send the ES under 800.
On Thursday look to buy early weakness, and then if the
market obliges, the move should be prone to reverse as soon
as the upside fizzles. If a reversal occurs from around the
827.25 level, then it could be a high for the morning.
However, if there good follow-through on the upside and
that's not a problem, then we could see the 834.00-834.50
area before selling comes back in. If that turns out to be
the case, it could start the topping pattern that's possible
on the daily chart.
