Today's Trading Recap: 12/22/09

HOW OUR DAY WENT:

The resistance around the 1115 level
on the ES was reversed in the first hour and it fell to
1110.50 before noon. Then 1115 was reiterated as resistance
and the bounce reversed from 1115.25 and pulled back to
1112.00 in a small range day.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 12/14/09

.................................................

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

12 / 14 / 2009

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 6:26 pm eastern time, 12/14/2009

A gap up open was sold at the 1108.50-1109.00 resistance
zone on Monday, and after locking in partial profits at
1105.50 I sent an instant message saying:

(Dec 14-10:05) Mike: 1104.00 a better support,
symmetry there

That was our 2nd target, and the ES reached 1104.00 exactly
before bouncing back. With that for a first hour low the
market crept higher into early afternoon. The ES reversed
from 1110.25, then broke the channel that had formed. A
bounce then to 1108.75 was reversed and a drop to 1106.50
was turned back up. The market spent the rest of the day
churning and ended the day about in the middle of the tiny
daily ranges.

We get the PPI before the open on Tuesday. The SP500 cash
made a new high close for the move, so there must be instant
follow through buying if the market is going to break out of
this range on the upside. A break and hold over the 1109.50-
1110.25 area on the ES is needed for that to occur. However,
the market has reached a short term overbought status, and
any kind of breakout / break down is probably on hold until
Wednesday's Fed release.

On Tuesday look for early strength to be sold, unless the
initial resistance areas are exceeded and not quickly
reversed. If that plays out for a trade on the short side,
and then there is a decent pullback, then that should set up
a buying opportunity if the ES tests the 1104.00-1103.50
area and then turns back up. If that area is not held, or
quickly reversed, then the 1100.50-1099.75 area is key
support on Tuesday. If tested, the move needs to quickly
reverse to avoid potential trouble and maybe another trip to
the bottom of this range.

Today's Trading Recap: 11/17/09

HOW OUR DAY WENT:

The initial support area on the ES at
1103.50-1102.50 gave us 2 quick trades on the long side
this morning. There was a bounce from 1102.50 to 1107.50,
and then a bounce from 1103.00 to 1106.75 occurred before
the ES washed out to 1100.25. Then the ES bounced and
reversed from 1104.00 updated resistance then dropped to
the 1100.00 early low. After the market rallied back
members were told to watch 1108.00-1108.50 for a turn,
and the ES reversed from 1108.25 and dropped to 1104.00
before firming and bouncing back.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 09/27/09

.................................................

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

9 / 27 / 2009

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 5:26 pm eastern time, 9/27/2009

The market opened lower on Friday but then turned back up
from the 1041.50-1041.00 support zone on the ES and rallied
to the 1048.50-1049.00 resistance zone. The move reversed,
and a persistent trend down move to the 1038-1037
support/target zone occurred. After a brief poke under that
support, the market reversed around 1 pm and then a decent
rally followed. However, the rally lost steam after the ES
reached 1044.75 and then a little 1-2-3 top was made after
the ES reversed from 1043.75 and it dropped 4.50 points to
1039.25 before the close.

The market dropped for 3 days in a row, starting with the
key reversal day on Wednesday. This has put a number of
short term internal oscillators into oversold status. My 3
Day Thrust oscillator is at -.70 (a normal extreme is +/-
.50) and my RBI oscillator is also in extreme oversold
status. Also, the 4 day volume ratio is down to .33, which
is very compressed.

That said, the market has reason to put together a decent
bounce. If it cannot bounce enough to relieve the oversold
status, then it is in poor shape and we should get a deeper
selloff into Tuesday. If the market can put together a
decent rally, it will set up another sizable drop as long as
last week's highs are not exceeded.

On Friday the market had trouble getting over the 1044.00-
1144.75 area on the ES and the 1700.25-1701.00 on the NQ.
Both of those areas were sold into, and must be exceeded and
not quickly reversed to get another push higher in gear. If
that occurs, just beware that when the upside momentum
stalls out, a decent pullback should follow. On the
downside, the market turned up quickly from the 1036.25 low
and probably trapped some late shorts, so that area must be
defended if the market is going to avoid more trouble. If it
is not quickly reversed, then the pressure may be on for a
move towards the 1030.50-1029.50 zone on the ES to see if
the market will either snap back, or fall apart.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 09/22/09

.................................................

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

9 / 22 / 2009

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 6:06 pm eastern time, 9/22/2009

The ES gapped to 1066.50 on the open on Tuesday, just under
the 1067.00-1067.50 resistance, and quickly dropped to
1061.50. The reversal back up fizzled at 1066.00, and a drop
to 1061.50 again followed. A third try also failed, but
buyers stepped in at 1064.00 and the market rallied to new
highs for the day. The ES reached 1069.50 shortly after 1
pm, and the token higher high was quickly reversed. A
pullback held at 1065.00, but the bounce from that level had
no gusto and reversed from 1067.50. A range formed as the
pullbacks held the 1065.50 level while the 1068.00 level was
a lid on the upside. A quick poke over that resistance
reversed from 1068.75, then it dropped to 1065.50 again and
then firmed into the close.

On Wednesday we get the FOMC policy decision on interest
rates around 2:15 pm eastern time. After the early going on
Tuesday, the action was not great as the market chopped
around but didn't go far either way. The ES opened and
closed at about the same price on Tuesday, meaning the
market should be near decision point on direction short
term. The Nasdaq futures (NQ) made or matched a higher high
for 13 straight days now. Also, the top side of the Tuesday
trading range was just under a new high on the SP500 cash.
If the market fails to follow through with good buying on
Wednesday, a secondary top should be forming.

The 1065.50-1065.00 area on the ES was the bottom of the
afternoon range on Tuesday. So, as long as that area is
defended, the bulls are in charge, but a decent rally will
likely set up a nice tradable pullback if it stalls out in
new high ground. If there is a trending move going into the
Fed release, odds favor a reversal shortly before the
release. After the Fed release, there normally is some quick
back-and-forth action and then the market will get a
direction and go that way until late in the day. Beware if
the ES is unable to break through the 1068.75-1069.25 zone
and hold, as it could set up a reversal from under the old
high.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 09/13/09

.................................................

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

9 / 13 / 2009

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 5:26 pm eastern time, 9/13/2009

We were selling early strength on Friday, and had resistance
at the 1043.50-1044.00 zone on the ES. The ES popped up and
reached 1043.75 and fizzled, giving us a great reward/risk
shorting opportunity. The ES then dropped 10 points to
1033.50 before bouncing, which was right at initial support
at the 1034.00-1033.50 zone. I gave the 1038.00-1038.50 as
new resistance, and the bounce reached 1038.25 and turned
back down. They had a 3.25 point pullback from there, then
the ES popped up to 1039.25 and then pulled back. A run to
1040.75 was quickly reversed, then the market pulled back
into the close.

The upside flattened out on Friday, as the market had a 2
sided day with a high at a resistance zone and a low at a
support zone. The Vix reversed from a yearly low, and gave 3
sell signals of 5 on Friday. At the moment it looks like the
upside is limited, and a drop back to test the Friday lows
are in the cards. If the ES cannot avoid rejecting the 1040
area, then we should drop towards the 1030.50-1030.00 area
and test the market strength from there.

Look for the "sell early, buy the first decent pullback"
type of action to start the day on Monday. If there is some
early strength, and there is a test of the late Friday highs
that fizzles/reverses it will set up a good shorting
opportunity. If the first decent pullback can hold the
1030.50-1030.00 area in the first 30 minutes of trading, and
stall out and turn up, then a trade on the long side might
be in order. However, unless/until the 1040 area is exceeded
and held, shorting the bounces should be the better odds
trade on Monday.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 09/08/09

.................................................

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

9 / 8 / 2009

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 6:03 pm eastern time, 9/8/2009

The ES opened up 11.50 points on Tuesday, and just a tick
over the 1024.50-1025.25 resistance, then it promptly
reversed and dropped to 1020.50 in 15 minutes before a
bounce. The bounce didn't stick and one more push lower to
1019.00 occurred and then the move reversed. The rally off
the 1019.00 low failed 3 times at 1025.50, setting up
another short and we covered at 1021 per an instant message
sent at 11:54 am. Then 1023.50 became important resistance.
A bounce reached 1023.50 exactly, and then turned back down
3+ points to 1020.25. In the last hour the 1025.25-1025.50
area was a lid, with the ES pulling back 3 points and then 2
points from the 1025.25 and 1025.50 levels. The ES then
bounced to 1025.25 again before settlement.

Many of the short term internal gauges are now overbought.
Also, the Vix reversed on Tuesday and closed up on an up day
for the market. That reversal in sentiment is a short term
negative for the market. Also, the market opened on its
highs on Tuesday and that 1025.25-1025.75 zone was rejected
all afternoon on Tuesday. The ES had just a 6.75 point range
excluding the gap on Tuesday, and a narrow range at the top
of a trend tends to be a precursor of a change of direction.

On Wednesday, look for the better opportunities to set up on
the short side. A break over the 1025.75 area is needed to
avoid reversing from up here. If the market opens higher,
and over the 1025.75 high from Tuesday, it shouldn't stay up
there for very long so be on alert for a possible "prairie
dog" pop that reverses from the 1027.75-1028.25 zone. The
volatility should pick up, so if the ES falls towards what
should be good support around the 1016.25-1015.75 area in
front of the Fed's Beige Book release (at 2 pm on Wednesday)
beware of a reversal back up. If that zone is not reversed,
then we could see the 1012.50-1011.50 area on the ES before
a turn around occurs.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 08/31/09

.................................................

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

8 / 31 / 2009

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 6:08 pm eastern time, 8/31/2009

The market gapped down on Monday and under the key support,
and kept dropping until the 1014.75-1014.00 area was broken
by a bit, and then reversed. This was in line with what I
wrote on Sunday night, stating:

"If there is a sharp drop from under the 1030 level,
then the 1014.75-1014.00 area could be broken by a bit
before the move either reverses or accelerates."

The ES fell to 1013.25 in the first 30 minutes, and then
reversed. After the bounce started I sent an instant message
stating:

(Aug 31-10:35) mike: a pop to 1019.50 is resist / short
if it in the next 10 minutes

The ES popped to 1019.50 a few minutes later, then dropped
4.00 points to 1015.50. The Instant Messages are a nice
addition for members, as more timely notes can be sent as
time allows me. In any case, the ES based out at the
1014.75-1014.25 area and then popped higher. The first pop
reversed at the 1019.75 level, then pulled back quickly. The
drop held at the 1014.75 level and then they rallied to a
new high for the day at the close.

The daily charts are looking toppy, and the late day bounce
appeared to be end of month induced. The upside should be
limited unless there is a bullish spark. The 1014.75-1014.25
area on the ES will need to hold on a pullback, otherwise
things will being to break down in a bigger way. At the
moment it looks like a rally back towards the 1029.25-
1030.00 zone on the ES may be asking too much, but if there
is a rally back to that area and it stalls/ reverses, it
would set up a very good shorting opportunity.

On Tuesday we get the ISM Index 30 minutes into the trading
day. If the market opens higher, look for a shorting
opportunity as soon as upside momentum fizzles. If the ES
pops up to 1024.50-1025.00 on the open and is rejected, it
will be a sign of weakness and the short side should set up
from there. On the other side, if the market opens lower,
look for a reversal from 1015.00 or above to set up a trade
on the long side. For now keep long trades on a tight leash
as the market is still vulnerable coming off of an August
high.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 08/27/09

.................................................

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

8 / 27 / 2009

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 6:32 pm eastern time, 8/27/2009

Last night I wrote:

"A washout should be around the corner, and then a
rally might be able to reassert itself." And
later, "...a trip towards the 1014.75-1014.00 zone
could be in the cards before buyers step to the
plate".

The ES opened flat at 1026.75, then went straight down to
1014.75 in the first 40 minutes of trading. Then a little
double bottom was made and the buyers stepped to the plate
and took the ES all the way to 1032.75 by 2:40 pm. Then, as
the ES was at 1032.00, just a few ticks from the high, I
Instant Messaged the group:

"(Aug 27-14:47) Mike: this is getting parabolic,
careful w/new long up here."

That 1032 level wasn't seen again as a drop to 1028.50
followed before the close.

The market made an impressive comeback after the early
shellacking it took on Thursday. We are in the timeframe
that tends to be bullish, normally for a mark-up into the
end of the month. Nearly all of my indicators are neutral,
although the sentiment is a bit overly bullish. The market
has made good moves in both directions this week, and it is
back to the top side of this trading range. The dips should
offer good buying opportunities and the rallies should set
up shorting opportunities when the upside move runs for
awhile then stalls. A pullback of 4-6 points on the ES
should hold if the market is going to be strong. If they
fall more than that, then the 1020.75-1020.25 zone on the ES
could be seen again. It must hold, otherwise there is
something not right and a top formation could be in the
works.

On Friday look for early strength to be sold as soon as the
upside stalls, especially if that occurs in the first 20-40
minutes of trading and the ES runs up to test the 1038 area.
If that plays out, beware that the first good drop should
set up a trade on the long side as long as that 1020.75-
1020.25 zone holds.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 08/06/09

.................................................

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

8 / 6 / 2009

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 6:16 pm eastern time, 8/6/2009

The higher open on Thursday was a "gift" short, especially
with the all 3 index futures rejecting resistance areas at
the same time. I had resistance at 1005.50-1006.25 on the
ES, 1622.50-1623.25 on the NQ, and 9289-9292 on the YM, and
with highs at 1005.75 on the ES, 1621.75 on the NQ and 9289
on the YM all rejected, it set up a fast drop. The market
didn't stabilize until reaching the 992.75-991.75 support on
the ES, and a bounce to the updated resistance at 999.00-
999.50 on the ES was sold. The ES dropped from 999.00 to
993.00 and then bounced back, but the move didn't stick and
the 993.00-992.75 zone was cut through. The ES fell to
989.75, a bit above the last support at the 988.75-987.75
zone, and turned back up. The ES reversed off of the 993.50
updated resistance on the first attempt, but after just a 2
point drop, the market turned back up and chopped its way
back to 996.25 on the ES before the close.

The market left the normally bullish end-of-month, first 2
days of a new month upside bias on Wednesday, and the market
has had trouble since then. The rejection of the 1005.50-
1006.25 area on both Wednesday and Thursday puts a lid on
top of what has been a small trading range this week. In
fact, the ES has had just a 17 point weekly range thus far.
With the market moving back and forth in a small range while
in recent new high territory is normally a bearish sign.
Volatility on an intraday basis has been present, but the
market needs to release this energy with a directional move.

On Friday we get the Employment data before the open. The
end of day pattern on Thursday was a rising wedge on both
the ES and Dow cash, so a pop up and reverse type of open
would likely start a quick drop back down. It looks like the
993.00 level on the ES would need to hold to avoid a
breakdown. For now it looks like the market needs to get
over the initial resistance and not quickly reverse to
change the trend. Until proven otherwise, the short side
should continue to offer the "easier" setups, shorting the
bounces when the upside loses its momentum and the move
stalls, as that is when the quick pullbacks/drops begin. If
the ES cannot hold on a test of the 988.75 Monday low, then
the weekly chart will not look good and there would be
resistance around the 994 level. A bounce back would need to
get back over the 994.00 level on the ES and stay over that
level on a pullback to avoid a bad close.

Today's Trading Recap: 08/05/09

HOW OUR DAY WENT: After closing right at the 1005.00-
1005.50 resistance zone on Tuesday, the market opened
lower on Wednesday and the dip was bought. The pop back
to 1004.00 reversed, setting up a good reward/risk short
for our members. The drop took the market down pretty
fast, then made a double bottom around 991.25 on the
ES. The updated resistance at 997.00-997.50 set up 2
nice scalps. The updated 933 support given intraday held
on the pullbacks, then a run to 1003.75 double top was
a short.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 08/03/09

.................................................

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

8 / 3 / 2009

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 6:16 pm eastern time, 8/3/2009

A gap up open was sold on Monday as the ES popped up to
995.75 and reversed right away. The first decent pullback
was over 25 minutes later, as buyers stepped to the plate
when the ES reversed from 988.75. The ES ran up to make a
high at 999.25, and then a 7 point pullback followed. After
holding and turning up from 992.25, the market started a
very choppy trend up move into the afternoon. The ES popped
over the 1000.50 resistance, but reversed from 1001.00 and
pulled back. The 997.00 level held, then the ES popped to
1000.50 and reversed back down. That set up a short entry
and the ES dropped back to 996.00 with 15 minutes left in
stock trading. The market turned back up and rallied into
the close.

The market has a good underlying bid, turning back up after
a pullback loses momentum and reverses. The drops have been
between around 5-7 points on the ES, then the buying comes
back in to drive prices higher. On Tuesday we will likely
get more two-sided action, but unless/until there is a break
and hold under the initial support on Tuesday, no damage is
done. However, if the initial support areas are broken, then
the bounces will likely be sold as the trends could be
rolling over. On the upside, most will be watching the 1014
level on the SP500 cash, as it's the .382 retracement from
the 1576.09 high to 666.79 low. That should equate to the
1011.50-1012.50 area on the ES. That should be hard to get
through the first time, so beware if the ES rallies another
10-12 points on Tuesday as the market would be ripe for a
reversal or profit taking of some sort.

On Tuesday look for early strength to set up a shorting
opportunity, and then the first decent pullback should set
up a buying opportunity if it can snap back from a 5-7 point
pullback that holds the initial support. If that support is
not reversed, then we could have a sharper selloff than most
expect begin.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 08/02/09

.................................................

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

8 / 2 / 2009

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 4:46 pm eastern time, 8/2/2009

The market had another good week, but on Thursday and Friday
the character changed with the market unable to hold gains.
On Friday the market rallied early, but the strength was
sold as the ES fizzled at 990.00 and sold off quickly. The
bulls held ground however, as the ES reversed from the
980.00-979.50 initial support area and bounced back to the
987-988 updated resistance. After a couple of pullbacks from
that zone reversed from around 983, the ES ran up to 989.50
and stalled/reversed and then backed off to the 984.50
level. One last run-up failed (although the ES got over 989
first) and the market closed with a sharp drop into the
close. The ES and NQ sold off into the final minutes of
trading, but the monthly "settlement at fair value" (goofy
rule) made it look like they ended better than they really
did.

The internal gauges are still in neutral, but the sentiment
is beginning to turn cautious. The market is making good
moves in both directions, however the easier side has been
the short side when the run-ups fizzle out at extended
levels. That is opposite of the bullish action we were
getting coming into Thursday morning, with the market
selling off early and then buyers rushing in and driving
prices higher into the close.

The volatility certainly has returned. On Friday we were
expecting two-sided action, and got these swings of 4 points
or more on the ES:

981.25
990.00 +8.75
979.50 -10.50
988.50 +9.00
982.75 -5.75
987.50 +4.75
983.25 -4.25
989.50 +6.25
984.50 -5.00
990.50 +6.00
981.50 -9.00

That's 69+ points of travel range, despite the last trade
being just a quarter of a point below the Thursday close. I
think we can expect this type of action to continue until
there is either a break below 965 or a break over 994 near
term. That is the range the market needs to break to get
something going in either direction as it looks right now.

On Monday focus on shorting the bounces as soon as the
upside fizzles out. If there is going to be a decent trade
on the long side, then it should occur from a lower open
that reverses to the upside. However, like late Friday, an
early rally will not stick unless there is a spark that
ignites good buying, which is unforeseen right now.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 07/28/09

.................................................

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

7 / 28 / 2009

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 5:45 pm eastern time, 7/28/2009

The ES opened down almost 8 points and at the 971.50-970.75
support and rallied up to 979.25 before fizzling out. That
started a drop to the 969.50 level, which was just over
Monday's low, then bounced to 974.25. The move reversed
there, and the ES dropped one more time to a 966.00 low. the
market turned up and the 972.50 level turned pivotal. After
a failure there, the ES popped over and held that 970.50
area and ran up to 978.25 where the move reversed. The
selloff took the ES back to 971.25 and then the market
firmed into the close.

On Wednesday we get the Fed's Beige Book at 2pm eastern
time. The market will offer a good shorting opportunity if
there is early strength that stalls out. The 978.50-980.00
zone has been rejected 3 times, and is looking like the
upside might be limited with that area a lid. If that area
is exceeded, then beware of a reversal from the 984.00-
984.50 area. on the downside, the 970.75-970.25 area was
pivotal on Tuesday. That will need to be reversed quickly if
broken. If not, then another spill is in gear and we could
possibly slide to the 963.00-962.50 zone before the market
gets turned around.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 07/27/09

.................................................

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

7 / 27 / 2009

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 6:25 pm eastern time, 7/27/2009

The market opened lower on Monday, and the ES immediately
popped up to 976.25 and fizzled before another drop. The ES
fell 3.50 points to 972.75 (the 972.50-972.00 initial
support). Able to hold the initial support, the ES ran up to
the 979.50-980.25 resistance zone. That zone was easily
rejected, and after a little double top was put in place
from 979.75 high, it started a 10.75 point trend-down move
to a 969.00 low (969.00-968.75 was the second support zone
listed) before turning back up. The bounce took the ES 6.75
points higher to 975.75, right at the 975.50-976.00 updated
resistance zone, and it made a little double top before
selling off 5 points to 971.75. The market then chopped
sideways for a bit, and then finally broke lower. That drop
reversed from 970.75 and the upside got in gear. The ES
rallied to make a little double top at 978.25, but the
pullback held 976.25 and then popped up to a lower high then
reversed. The dip held at 974.25 and then in the last 30
minutes the market rallied to new highs, with the ES
reaching 980.00 at the close.

The market is now very overbought, and the reversal by the
Vix on Monday gave 2 out of 5 possible sell signals in my
work. However, the market continues to be very resilient,
and the pattern of early weakness and late strength is a
plus for the market. For now, the market is "ok" unless the
initial support areas are not held on the first decent
pullback. If the initial support areas are all broken, then
a short term top could be in place. Unless/until that
occurs, the dips should set up buying opportunities.

On Tuesday we get the Consumer Confidence number 30 minutes
into the trading day. If the ES pops over the 980 level and
reverses back down through it, then it can trigger a
shorting opportunity with a pretty tight stop. If that
doesn't happen, and the ES stays over 980, then it could
goose shorts and cause a move to get momentum and rally to
the 984.00-984.50 area, or higher. If the market is unable
to stay over the initial support zones, then it will dent
the upside momentum. should that occur, and the ES slides to
the 969.00 low from Monday, a quick reversal would be needed
to avoid rolling over.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 07/23/09

.................................................

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

7 / 23 / 2009

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 6:22 pm eastern time, 7/23/2009

The market opened higher on Thursday and went trend up into
the early afternoon. After reaching 976.25 early afternoon,
the ES backed off to 972.25 and bounced back. The bounce
reached 976.50 on the ES and fizzled. With a stretched out
market losing momentum, the market reversed and the ES fell
to 968.50 just before settlement.

The late day dumping of stocks could be the start of
something. At the best, the market should have a hard time
holding its gains on Friday. The market closed in new high
ground, but the internal gauges are either short term
overbought, or showing a bearish divergence. Also, while the
market was up during the day the Vix was up also. On the
drop, it also dropped. That sentiment expects another rally,
but if it does not occur on Friday then the Vix will flash a
bunch of sell signals.

On Friday, a lower open will likely set up a bounce in the
early going. However, the first decent bounce should set up
a very good shorting opportunity when the upside
stalls/reverses. If the ES reaches the 973.25-973.75 area or
a bit lower and reverses, then the market is weak and the
bounces should set up shorting opportunities.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 07/22/09

.................................................

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

7 / 22 / 2009

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 6:07 pm eastern time, 7/22/2009

The ES opened down 8 points on Wednesday, and the move was
reversed from the get-go. The ES rallied 10 points to the
954.00-954.50 initial resistance area, and a double top was
made. The ES fell to the 947.75 support and bounced again,
and after breaking out of a triangle pattern the ES ran up
to 956.75. A double top was made there, and then the market
went into a choppy trend down move into the close.

On Thursday we get Initial Claims before the open, and then
the Existing Home Sales 30 minutes into the trading day. The
market action on Wednesday was the first real sign of
weakness in quite some time. Volatility should be returning.
The action was two-sided and a bit tricky as the ES had a
number of swings intraday. The ES made these moves intraday
on Wednesday:

944.50 -9.50
954.50 +10.00
947.75 -6.75
953.50 +5.75
949.25 -4.25
956.75 +7.50
950.75 -6.00
954.25 +3.50
948.25 -6.00

The weight of the evidence from the daily indicators says a
short term top should be in place. The Nasdaq looks
especially vulnerable if there is a selloff.

On Thursday the market would need to get over the initial
resistance areas and not quickly reverse, to get back into
uptrends. Even if that occurs, the bounces will have trouble
holding. If there is early strength, the move should set up
a very good shorting opportunity, especially if the move is
rejected from the initial resistance areas. If the market
opens lower, a rebound should occur in the first 45 minutes
of trading. If it stalls out under the 952 level on the ES
and 1560 on the NQ, then the market is weak and there is
more to come on the downside.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 07/21/09

.................................................

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

7 / 21 / 2009

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 6:33 pm eastern time, 7/21/2009

The ES opened up 5.25 points on Tuesday, but that early
strength reversed and we had a drop to 945.00 in short
order. That was at the 945.00-944.50 support area, and the
ES bounced to 951.75 and quickly reversed. That lead to a
drop to 939.50 on the ES, just a tick under the
940.25-939.25 key support, and the move was reversed. The ES
turned up and started a slow and choppy grind higher to the
947.75-948.00 area. There was only a small pullback, and it
caused a rally back to 954.00 just before settlement for the
futures.

On Tuesday we had trend-down action into early afternoon,
then after reversing from the 940.25-939.25 zone the market
started a choppy trend-up move. Despite the new highs on
this leg up, the internal gauges have gone into neutral
territory. Also, although the market rallied back to close
at the highs on the cash indices, the ES settled 3 ticks
under its open.

The market ended the day in uptrends, so on Wednesday we are
likely going to see early strength set up a shorting
opportunity. A pop up open just above the Tuesday highs that
reverses would set up that trade. Then, as long as the
947.50-946.75 initial support area on the ES holds on the
first decent pullback, the upside move should continue. If
that area is not held, then the 940.25-939.25 area is still
the major short term support. If the market gets back there,
and buyers do not step to the plate, then the charts will
begin a topping pattern.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 07/20/09

.................................................

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

7 / 20 / 2009

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 6:29 pm eastern time, 7/20/2009

The market opened higher on Monday, and after the ES made a
double top at 945.75 there was a pretty quick drop to the
updated support at the 927.50-927.00 zone. With a low at
937.25 on the ES, the market went into a grind higher and
reached 944.50 before pulling back. The ES dropped to 940,
just over the 939.75 level, and quickly reversed. That was
enough to start a bounce, and with a couple little shakeouts
along the way, the market went into a choppy grind higher
that took the ES up to 949.25 just before the close.

The market still has good upside momentum, and holding the
940.00-939.75 area on the ES keeps the melt-up action in
gear. That area is now key support, and really shouldn't
even be tested if the market is going higher from here. The
market has had a good underlying bid, with the quick
pullbacks all getting turned around and headed back to the
upside. The only bad thing is that after 9 straight up days
for the Nasdaq 100 and a 72 point gain over 6 days for the
SP500 cash, this move has gone pretty fast pretty fast. A
pullback should be due, and the late run-up into the close
might have been the hook that makes for a short term trading
top.

The moves into new high ground have tended to be sold the
first go around. If there is early strength, and the ES
stalls/reverses from around the 952.00-953.00 area, that
could make a double top of sorts, and a sell-off could
begin. On the other side of the coin, if the Monday highs
are not exceeded, and the initial support areas are not able
to hold, then a test of the 940.25-939.75 area should be
telling. That is the last round number that was resistance
and now support, and that is also where buyers came in on
Monday afternoon. If it is not defended, then things could
be changing short term. A drop back to the 933.00-932.25
area on the ES, and possibly quite a bit lower could be in
the cards.

On Tuesday get short if there is early strength, as the ES
should not exceed the 952-953 area if there is going to
finally be a decent pullback. A move over 950 that then goes
back down through 950 would be a decent entry. If that plays
out, and the initial support isn't held, a drop towards the
Monday afternoon lows needs to hold, otherwise it could be a
bad day for the market.
