TradeStalker's RBI Update 11/11/08

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

11 / 11 / 2008

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 6:28 pm eastern time, 11/11/2008

The key zone coming into Tuesday was at the 905.50-905.00
area on the SP futures. The SP futures opened at 905.00,
made a 905.50 high, and headed lower. That meant trouble and
new resistance areas were given. A reversal from just over
893.50 started a drop and the 882.00-880.50 support area
turned into a magnet. The SP futures went to 882.75 and
turned up. Updated resistance was given at 889.00 on the SP
futures and 1216 on the Nasdaq futures. The first bounce
reached 888.50 on the ES and 1216.25 on the NQ and they
dropped to 883.25 and 1210.00, respectively. After making
that double bottom, a sloppy bounce to 891.00 failed and the
market pulled back again. Then the Freddie-Fannie news hit
the tape and the SP sprinted to test the 905 area. The
market backed off but the SP futures turned up from 895.25
and then shot higher to 917.00 and the move fizzled and
reversed. The 895.25 level was reached on the first pullback
and a decent bounce to 906.25 followed, but it was sold and
the market rolled over again. The SP futures dropped to
886.25 and snapped back to 901.75 before fading into the
close.

Tuesday was a wild day for sure! The daily indicators are
either a bit oversold or neutral at the moment. However, the
moves on the upside are easily turned back, as if the market
doesn't like something else going on under the surface. On
the other side of the coin, the sharp drops are reversing
and bringing on the rally attempts. The market is in a big
range and another test of the 843 level on the SP futures
could be in the cards before a more sustainable rebound
occurs.

On Wednesday look for a shorting opportunity if there is
early strength as soon as the move stalls and begins to roll
over. That should occur in the first 20 minutes or so if
it's going to play out. If it does, then the first decent
pullback should set up a buying opportunity if a pullback
can hold the 887.00-886.50 area on the SP futures, or
quickly reverse if broken. If that is broken and not quickly
reversed, then the Tuesday lows would need to hold to avoid
potential trouble and another sharp downdraft.

The initial resistance is at the 905.50-906.50 area on the
SP futures and the 1239.00-1240.00 area on the Nasdaq
futures. If an early pop to those areas is not sold, then
the key hurdles on Wednesday are at the 916.00-917.00 area
on the SP futures and the 1251.25-1252.50 area on the Nasdaq
futures. If the market gets back up there and doesn't
reverse again, then the move could extend towards the
926.00-927.00 area on the SP futures and the 1261.50-1263.00
area on the Nasdaq futures.

The initial support is at the 887.00-886.50 area on the SP
futures and the 1214.50-1213.50 area on the Nasdaq futures.
If those areas are not defended on a pullback, then key
support is at the 882.00-880.50 area on the SP futures and
the 1206.50-1204.50 area on the Nasdaq futures. If the
market drops back down there, and cannot quickly turn back
up, then the next support would be down at the 877.00-876.00
area on the SP futures and the 1200.50-1199.50 area on the
Nasdaq futures. If those are tested and the move reverses,
it could start a decent rally. If they are easily broken,
then the 866.00-864.50 area on the SP futures and the
1190.25-1188.50 area on the Nasdaq futures would need to
hold, otherwise the downside could gather steam. If those
areas are broken, then a drop to the 834.00-833.00 area on
the SP futures should be bought, as it would coincide a
limit down move on Wednesday and that stall at support could
start a reversal.

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

11 / 10 / 2008

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 7:12 pm eastern time, 11/10/2008

We came into Monday looking to short early strength as soon
as the move stalled and began to roll over. The SP futures
gapped up on the open and reached 952.00 and then reversed
in the first 5 minutes of trading. It then turned into a
trend down day into early afternoon, when the SP futures
bounced off 911.50 and then chopped higher. A rising wedge
pattern was formed and after fizzling and reversing from
926.25, the SP futures reversed and a pretty sharp drop to
new lows for the day occurred. Buying and short covering
came in in the last hour and the market rallied into the
close.

The action on Monday was lethargic at best. The market was
trend down into the afternoon on buyers' indifference it
seemed. The late bounce came from a test of the Friday low
on the SP futures. Some of the short term internal gauges
are compressed at Monday's close. Also, the VIX was up more
than 10% on Monday so some fear was present even though the
market wasn't hurt too badly. As long as the market doesn't
break the Monday lows, the bulls should be in charge on
Tuesday.

Look for the "sell early, buy the first pullback" type of
action to start Tuesday. If the market pops up and the move
stalls / reverses in the first 20 minutes, it should set up
a shorting opportunity. If the first pullback can hold above
the Monday low areas, then the market will be in shape for a
decent rally. If those low areas are not defended, it could
start another sharp selloff as the downside picks up some
momentum.

The initial resistance is at the 925.75-926.25 area on the
SP futures and the 1261.75-1262.50 area on the Nasdaq
futures. Those were sold on Monday, so if the market doesn't
get rejected from there again, then the next hurdles would
be up at the 935.50-936.25 area on the SP futures and the
1274.50-1274.75 area on the Nasdaq futures. If those areas
are broken and the market can keep going, then the key
resistance on Tuesday is at the 951.50-952.25 area on the SP
futures and the 1299.50-1300.50 area on the Nasdaq futures.
If the market gets that far and doesn't reverse, then the
key hurdles are at the 957.50-958.50 area on the SP futures
and the 1316.50-1318.00 area on the Nasdaq futures. If
somehow the market gets wings, then there should be
resistance at the 965.25-966.00 area on the SP futures and
the 1327.50-1328.50 area on the Nasdaq futures. Major
resistance is up at the 976.00-977.00 area on the SP futures
and the 1334.75-1335.50 area on the Nasdaq futures.

The first good support is at the 905.50-905.00 area on the
SP futures and the 1235.50-1234.50 area on the Nasdaq
futures. If those are tested and not quickly reversed, then
we could go for the 897.00 level on the SP futures and the
1224.50 level on the Nasdaq futures. If those are tested the
market needs to quickly reverse back to the upside to avoid
trouble. If they do not turn around from those areas, then a
drop towards the 892.50-891.50 area on the SP futures and
the 1216.50-1214.75 area on the Nasdaq futures is likely. If
a selloff to those areas cannot hold, then it opens the door
for a drop towards the 882.00-880.50 area on the SP futures
and/or the 1198.50-1197.00 area on the Nasdaq futures.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 11/09/08

.................................................

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

11 / 9 / 2008

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 6:56 pm eastern time, 11/9/2008

We came in to Friday looking to short early strength. The SP
futures had a pop up open and then they reversed from 916.25
about 5 minutes into trading. The SP futures pulled back to
the Thursday close and then buying came in after reaching
905.00 and they ran up to 929.50, just under the 931.00-
932.00 resistance zone. The market pulled back, but the
updated support at 916 held (916.50 pullback low) and then
the SP futures bounced back to the 925 level. That turned
into a lid and there were 5 scalp opportunities on the short
side off that level. It was finally broken and the SP
futures ran up to 929.75 and stalled, and that offered a
good trade on the short side. The SP futures fell to 907.75
before reversing with 35 minutes left in stock trading.
Then, the worst "call" of the week/month was given when I
advised to avoid longs in the last 30 minutes. That was the
opposite of what we should have done as the market rallied
back to make its highs for the day at the close.

The averages had inside days on Friday, after falling more
than 100 points on the SP500 over 2 days. It took until the
last 30 minutes, but the market ended up making something
that looks like a decent trading low. The late day move must
prove itself strong by not giving back gains so easily. If
that occurs early this week, then we could rally back
towards the top of the big range the market is currently in.
If the market cannot follow through and instead further
strength is sold, then a pullback towards the Friday
afternoon lows must hold, otherwise the downside could again
gather some steam.

On Monday, look for a shorting opportunity if there is early
strength as soon as the move stalls and begins to roll
over. This would set up best if the initial resistance is
rejected. If that plays out, then the initial support areas
should hold and set up a buying opportunity if the market is
going to avoid more trouble.

The initial resistance is at the 940.00-941.00 area on the
SP futures and the 1294.50-1296.00 area on the Nasdaq
futures. If the market pops up there and reverses in the
first 20 minutes on Monday, then it sets up a good shorting
opportunity. If the market goes through those areas without
a problem, then the next hurdles would be at the 946.00-
946.50 area on the SP futures and the 1302.00-1303.00 area
on the Nasdaq futures. If those are not rejected, then the
957.50-958.50 area on the SP futures and the 1316.50-1318.00
area on the Nasdaq futures would be next. If the market gets
up there and isn't reversed, then the key resistance on
Monday is at the 965.25-966.00 area on the SP futures and
the 1327.50-1328.50 area on the Nasdaq futures. If the
market gets up there, beware of a reversal. If that doesn't
happen, then we could be in a little melt-up move and head
towards the 976.00-977.00 area on the SP futures and the
1334.75-1335.50 area on the Nasdaq futures.

The initial support is at the 929.25-928.50 area on the SP
futures and the 1280.00-1278.50 area on the Nasdaq futures.
If those areas are not bought, then a pullback towards the
921.00-920.50 area on the SP futures and the 1265.00-1264.00
area on the Nasdaq futures is likely. The market needs to
hold those areas to avoid trouble. If buyers don't hold
those areas, then the 917.25-916.50 area on the SP futures
and the 1257.00-1256.00 area on the Nasdaq futures is key
support. If the market cannot hold those late Friday low
areas, then another drop towards the 908.00-907.50 area on
the SP futures and the 1249.75-1248.25 area on the Nasdaq
futures is possible. Those will need to be quickly reversed
if broken to avoid a drop back towards the 898-897 area on
the SP futures.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 11/06/08

.................................................

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

11 / 6 / 2008

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 7:00 pm eastern time, 11/6/2008

The market gapped down on the open on Thursday, and after
popping up to fill the gaps, the SP futures rolled over from
a 950.50 high and it was a steady trend down move into 2pm
eastern time. A bounce from 900.50 (just above the 899.50-
898.00 support zone) took the SP futures to 920.25, just
under the 921 updated resistance, and the market backed off
rolled over again. A drop to 898.00 was reversed, but the
pop fizzled and the SP futures sold off to an 897.00 low
with 5 minutes left in stock trading. Buying/short covering
gave the futures feeble lift after stocks closed but then
sagged into settlement time.

The Dow lost 400 points on back to back days. The market was
so overextended that we shouldn't be surprised in current
conditions. The closing Trin at 3.88 on Wednesday and 4.14
on Thursday are normally signs of capitulation, and good
lows tend to be seen within 7 trading hours after such an
extreme. We shall see about that.

On Friday the Employment data will be released before the
open. The market is not in good shape, and unless/until the
market can establish a decent uptrend, the bounces should
continue to offer the better odds trades. A decent rally can
start any time, but it's better to let someone else buy
bottom tick. In order to get some of the downside pressure
off the market, the SP futures need to break the 920-921
area and not reverse, again. Absent that, the trends are
down and the market is still vulnerable.

The initial resistance is at the 914.00 level on the SP
futures [8764] and 1253.00 level on the Nasdaq futures. If
those are cleared, then the 920.25-921.00 area on the SP
futures [8812-8819] and 1267.50-1268.50 area on the Nasdaq
futures should be key areas. If the market gets back up
there and the move doesn't fail, as the rallies have been
doing, then the trends could be turning. The next hurdles
would be at the 931.00-932.00 area on the SP futures [8893-
8897] and 1281.50-1282.25 area on the Nasdaq futures. If the
market gets there and doesn't reverse, then a move towards
the 940.00-941.00 area on the SP futures [8952-8958] and
1288.50-1290.00 area on the Nasdaq futures could be in the
cards. That should be a tough area to get through, but if
something happens to spark a good rally that sticks, then we
could see a run towards the 946.00-946.50 area on the SP
futures [9002-9008] and 1294.50-1296.00 area on the Nasdaq
futures. Don't expect this, but if there is a good rally,
then the 957.50-958.50 area on the SP futures [9136-9144]
and 1320.50-1322.50 area on the Nasdaq futures would be key
resistance for this week.

The initial support is at the 898.00-897.00 area on the SP
futures [8616-8611] and 1236.50-1235.00 area on the Nasdaq
futures. If those areas are not held, or quickly reversed if
broken, then a drop towards the 886.00-884.50 area on the SP
futures [8498-8491] and 1220.00-1218.00 area on the Nasdaq
futures is likely. The market has been hit hard, so we could
see a decent bounce if those are tested and the market
reverses. If that doesn't occur, then there isn't a whole
lot of support until getting to the 865.00-864.00 area on
the SP futures [8262-8254] and 1192.00-1190.00 area on the
Nasdaq futures. If the market drops that far and can not
hold, then we can go for the 845.50 level on the SP futures,
which would be limit down. If that happens, then watch the
SP500 cash while the futures stay locked at the limit. If
the SP500 cash sells off to the 835.00-834.00 area when the
curb is lifted, it would coincide with the low for the year.
That would made that same 835-834 area on the SP futures key
support. If the market tests that area, it will need to
quickly reverse and rally with some gusto to avoid a
collapse on Friday.

.................................................

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

11 / 5 / 2008

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 6:35 pm eastern time, 11/5/2008

The market was vulnerable due to the overbought status on
Wednesday and the market opened down about 15 points on the
SP futures. After reaching 982.50, the market turned back up
and the SP futures rallied back to 999.75. The move fizzled
and after a dip to 994.25, the SP futures popped to a lower
high at 999.25 and reversed. That 1-2-3 top started a pretty
sharp drop as the SP futures fell to 965.50 and then bounced
back. The 977-978 area was tested 3 times and the last test
reversed from 975.25 with just under an hour left in
trading. The 956-955 area was easily cut through as the SP
futures fell to 947.00 just before stocks closed. A bounce
into settlement put the futures above fair value as shorts
covered into the close.

On Thursday look for shorting opportunities as soon as the
upside momentum fizzles and the move begins to turn over.
The market could have some decent bounces, especially if a
gap down open reverses from the initial support areas.
However, it will take a break over the 976-977 area on the
SP futures, that doesn't quickly reverse, to turn the market
back up. Unless that occurs, this selloff could go for the
936.00-935.50 area on the SP futures, and quite possibly as
far as the 927.50-926.50 area before a reversal occurs. If
that area isn't defended, then we could be seeing major
support at the 919.00-918.00 Fed day low area.

The initial resistance is at the 958.75-959.50 area on the
SP futures and the 1306.50-1308.00 area on the Nasdaq
futures. The market will need to get over those areas and
not quickly reverse to avoid more trouble on Thursday. If
those areas are not rejected, then the 965.25-966.00 area on
the SP futures and the 1316.50-1318.00 area on the Nasdaq
futures would be next. Those areas will be pivotal if
reached early on Thursday. If those are not sold, then we
could test the 976.00-977.00 area on the SP futures and the
1331.75-1332.75 area on the Nasdaq futures. Those would be
key resistance areas if reached again. If the market can get
over those areas and not quickly reverse, then the market
should be out of trouble short term.

The initial support should be key and is at the 944.00-
943.00 area on the SP futures and the 1272.50-1271.00 area
on the Nasdaq futures. If there is an early reversal back up
from those areas, we could get a decent countertrend trade
on the long side. Just don't fall in love with the long
side, as bounces will likely be sold. If those areas are not
quickly reversed, then the next support would be down at the
936.00-935.50 area on the SP futures and the 1262.00-1260.50
area on the Nasdaq futures. If the market cannot turn around
from there, then the 927.50-926.50 area on the SP futures
and the 1251.50-1249.75 area on the Nasdaq futures should be
very good support. However, if buyers don't step to the
plate and reverse, then the door is opened for a drop
towards the 920.00-918.50 area on the SP futures. That is a
50% retracement from 834.00 to 1006.75, along with the Fed
day spike low on October 29th. If that key area also is
broken and the market cannot quickly reverse, then a drop
towards the 899.50-898.00 area on the SP futures could be in
the cards.

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

11 / 4 / 2008

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 6:31 pm eastern time, 11/4/2008

A higher open was sold into on Tuesday and the market sold
off for about 30 minutes and then turned up. A rally took
the SP futures to 1005.50 and after a pullback, a double top
was made. The SP futures dropped through the 992 support and
reached 985.50 with just over an hour left in trading. The
market reversed and the last hour rally took the market back
to test the highs by the close.

It's hard to tell how the market will handle things on
Wednesday. The internal gauges are at overbought extremes.
For one example, the commonly used McClellan oscillator
closed at +319 on Tuesday. The short term extremes are +/-
250, so that's very overbought. The last time it was even
close to that level was February 2nd, when it reached +261.
The short term volume ratios are in similar condition.
Prices are reasonable resistance areas also. It looks like
the late day lows from Wednesday will need to hold on a
pullback, otherwise the market will be vulnerable and could
head towards the 974.50-973.50 area on the SP futures. If
that zone isn't bought on a pullback, then things could be
changing again on the short term.

On Wednesday, look for a shorting opportunity if there is
early strength as soon as the upside stalls/reverses. If
that plays out, look for a buying opportunity if the initial
support at the 997.50-996.50 area on the SP futures can
hold. If that area doesn't hold, then selling bounces will
be in order. Use the support and resistance areas below for
potential turning points.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 11/03/08

.................................................

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

11 / 03 / 2008

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 7:08 pm eastern time, 11/03/2008

The market opened lower on Monday, but after 20 minutes of
trading the market turned up and rallied to the 973.00-
974.00 initial resistance area on the SP futures. After
poking just over that zone to 974.50, the move quickly
reversed and the market pulled back. The 960.25 level held
on the pullback, and then the SP futures rallied back to
972.50 just after noon. The upside stalled out and another
downdraft started, and the SP futures sold off to 957.00
with about an hour left in trading. Unable to cut through
the 956.00-955.00 support area, buying and short covering
started and the market rallied back in the last hour of
trading.

On Monday the SP futures traded in the narrowest range since
a 15.50 point range on September 3rd. The market has found a
trading range at the moment, but things are beginning to
look toppy. Aside from coming off extreme overbought status,
complacency is coming into play. The VIX went to its lowest
level in the last 10 days, which is one sell signal from the
VIX. A reversal on the VIX on Tuesday would give more sell
signals. In addition to short term sentiment, the market
tends to be extremely volatile at bottoms, but on the other
side of the coin, volatility tends to dry up near tops. The
volatility was pretty much absent compared to the action of
late.

The market averages made inside days on Monday, and the
compression should soon lead to a big move. The Election
will be the excuse, but it's in the technicals as I see it.
On Tuesday look to short early strength as soon as the
upside stalls and begins to turn. This should set up in the
first 20-40 minutes if it's going to play out. If it does,
the first decent pullback will then likely set up a buying
opportunity as long as the 956.00-955.00 area on the SP
futures and 1321.00-1319.50 area on the Nasdaq futures hold.
If the market gets back there and doesn't quickly turn
itself back up, then the market could get hit fairly hard. A
drop should hold those areas, otherwise a drop to the lower
end of this trading range could be in the cards.

The initial resistance is at the 970.50 level on the SP
futures and 1343.00 level on the Nasdaq futures. If those
are cleared, then the move must easily cut through good
resistance at the 974.00-974.50 area on the SP futures and
1347.50-1348.25 area on the Nasdaq futures and not quickly
reverses in order to get something going on the upside. If
the market can pull that off, then we should see a run up to
test the 983.00-984.00 area on the SP futures and 1360.50-
1361.25 area on the Nasdaq futures. Those should be key
resistance areas if the market gets up there. If the market
is in good shape, then those areas shouldn't be a problem
and the move should take the market to the resistance at the
987.50-988.50 area on the SP futures and 1366.50-1368.00
area on the Nasdaq futures. If those areas are broken, and
not quickly reversed, then we could see a rally towards the
997.50-998.50 area on the SP futures and 1378.50-1380.25
area on the Nasdaq futures.

The first good support is at the 956.00-955.00 area on the
SP futures and 1321.00-1319.50 area on the Nasdaq futures.
If the market can not quickly reverse from those areas, then
we could see a decent shake-out to the downside. the next
key support would be at the 944.00-943.00 area on the SP
futures and 1306.00-1305.25 area on the Nasdaq futures. If
buyers can not reverse from those areas, then a bit a panic
could take the market down to the 936.00-935.50 area on the
SP futures and 1298.00-1296.50 area on the Nasdaq futures.
If those areas are reached, be on alert for a reversal.
However, if the market gets down there and can not quickly
turn back up, then there should be good support at the
927.50-926.50 area on the SP futures and 1282.50-1280.25
area on the Nasdaq futures.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 11/02/08

.................................................

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

11 / 2 / 2008

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 4:56 pm eastern time, 11/2/2008

On Friday the market opened lower and after about 20 minutes
of trading, the market reversed and the end-of-month rally
was under way. It was a stair-step higher for the market
until getting to the 981-982 area on the SP futures and the
1355.50-1357.00 area on the Nasdaq futures. The market
backed off from those areas and then there was one more pop
above those areas that reversed. The risk on new longs at
those levels was high indeed, as the SP futures dropped
28.75 points off its high before a bounce into the close.

In early August I stated that an August high to an October
low was likely for the bigger picture. With October behind
us, the market still has work to do. The Fed day lows are
now key support that should not be broken if the market is
going to stay out of trouble. The daily internal indicators
are now extremely overbought, showing that a lot of fuel has
been used over the past week. My RBI Sell gate is open and
my 3 day thrust oscillator is also stretched to an extreme.
In addition, the VIX is giving warning signals by dropping
so much over the past week. The upside shouldn't be as
"easy" as it has been the last couple of days.

After closing poorly on Wednesday and then opening up 29
points on the Thursday open, the market has traded in an
upsloping channel. If that is broken on Monday, then the
bounces will be shorting opportunities as the market could
then head down towards the 944.00-943.00 area on the SP
futures. That would be a wake-up call for the complacent
bulls and would be a key test of the market psyche.

On Monday, look for a shorting opportunity if there is early
strength as soon as the upside stalls and begins to roll
over. This should occur in the first 20-40 minutes if a
rally is going to fail. If this plays out and the pullback
holds the initial support, then the uptrend should continue.
However, if the initial support is broken, then shorting the
bounces should offer the better odds setups on Monday.

The initial resistance is at the 973.00-974.00 area on the
SP futures and the 1343.50-1344.25 area on the Nasdaq
futures. If broken, then the next hurdles are at the 983.00-
984.00 area on the SP futures and the 1360.50-1361.25 area
on the Nasdaq futures. If those are exceeded, then the
pattern of higher highs continues and we could see a pop to
the 987.50-988.50 area on the SP futures and the 1366.50-
1368.00 area on the Nasdaq futures. If the market gets
through those areas without any trouble then the 997.50-
998.50 area on the SP futures and the 1378.50-1380.25 area
on the Nasdaq futures is the next key hurdle and a spot to
beware of a reversal.

The initial support at the 956.00-955.00 area on the SP
futures and the 1321.00-1319.50 area on the Nasdaq futures.
If the market gets through those areas and doesn't quickly
reverse, then a drop towards the 944.00-943.00 area on the
SP futures and the 1306.00-1305.25 area on the Nasdaq
futures would be next. If that area isn't defended, then the
market could be going into a deeper pullback and possibly
fall towards the 936.00-935.50 area on the SP futures and
the 1298.00-1296.50 area on the Nasdaq futures. If that area
is tested, it should set up a great buying opportunity on a
reversal. If it doesn't hold, then there should be very good
support at the 927.50-926.50 and 1288.75-1287.50 zones. If
the market doesn't turn around from a drop that deep, then a
test of the Fed day low at the 919.00-918.00 area on the SP
futures and/or the 1278.50-1277.00 on the Nasdaq futures
must hold. If it doesn't, then only the 909.50-908.50 area
on the SP futures and the 1257.00-1255.50 area on the Nasdaq
futures would be in the way of another crashette type of
day.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 10/30/08

.................................................

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

10 / 30 / 2008

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 6:58 pm eastern time, 10/30/2008

We came in Thursday looking to short early strength. The
huge up open of 29 points on the SP futures couldn't stick
and the move fizzled in the first 30 minutes and reversed.
Off of a 963.50 high, the market traded in trend down mode
until just after noon. The SP futures reached 926.75 and
reversed and a very choppy rally started. There were trades
on both sides, but the bulls won out as the market ended the
day by testing the first half-hour highs.

The dips are being bought since the double bottom Monday.
The market is still inside of Wednesday's last 30 minute
range and the top side is just a bit above current levels.
The Nasdaq futures matched Wednesday's high on Thursday. The
Nasdaq has been leading the way, so a test of the Wednesday
highs on the SP and Dow could be in the cards before the
market either breaks out or tops out.

On Friday look for a shorting opportunity if there is early
strength as soon as the move stalls and begins to roll over.
That should occur in the first 20-40 minutes if there is
going to be a good odds trade. If that plays out, look for a
buying opportunity if the first decent pullback can hold the
initial support. If the initial support is broken and the
market cannot quickly reverse back up, then a transition to
the downside could be underway.

The initial resistance is at the 963.50-964.00 area on the
SP futures and the 1345.75-1346.75 area on the Nasdaq
futures. If those are not trouble, then the door is opened
for a run up towards the 971.00-972.00 area on the SP
futures and the 1355.50-1357.00 area on the Nasdaq futures.
If those areas are tested and the move fails, it could be
terminal short term and start a decent pullback. However, if
the market gets up there and doesn't have trouble getting
through those areas, then the move could extend towards the
981.00-982.00 area on the SP futures and the 1366.50-1368.00
area on the Nasdaq futures. If those are not sold, then the
987.50-988.50 area on the SP futures and the 1374.50-1376.00
area on the Nasdaq futures is the last good resistance
before a test of the 998.50-1000.50 area on the SP futures.

The initial support is at the 935.50-935.00 area on the SP
futures and the 1314.50-1313.50 area on the Nasdaq futures.
A pullback should hold near those areas if the market is
going to stay out of trouble. The next support would be at
the 927.00-926.00 area on the SP futures and the 1302.00-
1301.00 area on the Nasdaq futures. If those are not bought,
then major support is at the 919.50-918.50 area on the SP
futures and the 1290.00-1288.50 area on the Nasdaq futures.
If the market gets back there and does not reverse, then the
downside isn't over and we could see the 914.00-913.00 area
on the SP futures and the 1261.50-1260.25 area on the Nasdaq
futures.

.................................................

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

10 / 29 / 2008

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 7:03 pm eastern time, 10/29/2008

After a flat open on Wednesday, the market pulled back and
then reversed and poked over initial the resistance. That
move stalled and reversed, but the 927 level on the SP
futures held and a decent rally started. The move lasted
into the early afternoon, but after the SP futures reached
the 954.50-955.00 zone before the Fed release (954.75 high)
they dropped 28.75 points to 926.00 just after the Fed
release. The market turned back up, and after forming a
triangle pattern, the market broke out to the upside. The SP
futures rallied to just under the 972.00-972.50 resistance
area and after a dip, a test of the high failed. The SP
futures reversed from 971.25 and dropped 52.25 points in 10
minutes to 919.00 before a bounce into the close.

The Fed day often times marks a short term top or bottom.
The rejection and subsequent sharp drop from the 97125 level
on the SP futures and 1346.75 level on the Nasdaq futures
puts the ball back in the bears' hands short term. On
Friday, The bounces should set up good shorting
opportunities until the market goes far enough lower to
attract new buying. So, if there is early strength, look to
get short as soon as the upside stalls and begins to
reverse. If there is a sizeable selloff and then the market
gets footing at lower levels, then a reversal back up could
set up a good trade on the long side.

The initial resistance is at the 936.00-937.00 area on the
SP futures and the 1305.50-1306.50 area on the Nasdaq
futures. If those are exceeded, then the 954.00-954.50 area
on the SP futures and the 1322.50-1323.75 area on the Nasdaq
futures should be tough to get through if a high was put in
place on Wednesday. If the market doesn't reverse from up
there, then the Wednesday highs at the 971.00-972.00 area on
the SP futures and the 1345.50-1346.75 area on the Nasdaq
futures will need to be cut through to avoid trouble. If
those are broken, then the 981.00-982.00 area on the SP
futures and the 1355.50-1357.00 area on the Nasdaq futures
could be seen on Thursday.

The initial support is at the 919.50-918.50 area on the SP
futures and the 1290.00-1288.50 area on the Nasdaq futures.
If those areas are not defended, then it could accelerate
the downside. The next support is at the 914.00-913.00 area
on the SP futures and the 1261.50-1260.25 area on the Nasdaq
futures. If the market is going to avoid trouble, those
areas should hold. If they do not, then a drop towards the
901.00-899.50 area on the SP futures and the 1240.50-1238.00
area on the Nasdaq futures should be about as far as a
healthy pullback should go. If those are not held, then the
894.00-893.00 area on the SP futures and the 1228.50-1227.75
area on the Nasdaq futures would be key support. The market
will be back in trouble if those are broken, and the last
good support would be near the 875.00 level on the SP
futures and the 1208.50 level on the Nasdaq futures. If
those are reached, it would be a great buying opportunity if
there is a reversal.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 10/28/08

.................................................

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

10 / 28 / 2008

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 7:39 pm eastern time, 10/28/2008

The market opened much higher on Tuesday but the move
fizzled about 30 minutes into the trading day. The SP
futures made a little double top at 881.50 and turned down,
and a pretty aggressive selloff took the SP futures down to
the 844-843 updated support zone. The SP futures reversed
after reaching a 843.25 low and the market went into rally
mode. The SP futures reached 875.00 and then pulled back.
Buying came in after a reversal from 858.50 on the SP
futures and the last 2 hours was a melt-up move. The 893-894
zone was easily exceeded as the SP and Nasdaq futures
rallied 84.50 and 118.00 points, respectively, off the
afternoon lows into the close.

We get the Fed decision on interest rate policy on
Wednesday. The market finished very strong on Tuesday and it
looks like a good low is in place for awhile. Some digestion
of the move is in order, most likely, so the "normal"
pattern before the Fed release may not play out.

The end of day move was parabolic and certainly looks
unsustainable. If the market opens flat or higher, it should
set up a shorting opportunity as soon as the move stalls and
starts to turn over. If that plays out, beware that the
first decent pullback should set up a trade on the long side
as long as the initial support holds. If it doesn't, then
the market could trend down into the Fed release. After the
Fed release, the market tends to make a volatile back-and-
forth gyration, and then find a direction and go that way
into the final minutes of trading. That type of action can
be expected again on Wednesday.

The initial resistance is at the 942.00-943.00 area on the
SP futures and the 1309.00-1310.50 area on the Nasdaq
futures. If those are rejected it will set the stage for a
decent pullback. However, if the market gets over and holds
those areas, then the next resistance is up at the 954.50-
955.00 area on the SP futures and the 1322.50-1324.00 area
on the Nasdaq futures. If those are reached, it should set
up a very good shorting opportunity. If the market gets up
there and does not reverse, then there should be resistance
at the 961.50-963.00 area on the SP futures and the 1340.50-
1342.00 area on the Nasdaq futures. If somehow the market
gets that far, and still does not reverse, then look for
some resistance at the 972.00-972.50 area on the SP futures
and the 1353.50-1355.00 area on the Nasdaq futures. If there
is another melt-up move, then there should be resistance at
the 986.00 level and possibly up to the 992.50-993.00 area
on the SP futures.

The initial support is at the 921.50-920.50 area on the SP
futures and the 1280.50-1279.50 area on the Nasdaq futures.
If those are broken, then it looks like the 914.00-913.00
area on the SP futures and the 1251.50-1250.25 area on the
Nasdaq futures would be a key area. If those do not hold,
then the 901.00-899.50 area on the SP futures and the
1240.50-1238.00 area on the Nasdaq futures could be magnets.
If the market gets down there and cannot reverse, then the
key support would be at the 894.00-893.00 area on the SP
futures and the 1228.50-1227.75 area on the Nasdaq futures.
If those are broken, then the 875.00 level on the SP futures
and the 1208.50 level on the Nasdaq futures need to hold or
else we could see a spill towards major support at the
858.50-857.50 area on the SP futures and the 1193.00-1191.00
area on the Nasdaq futures.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 10/27/08

.................................................

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

10 / 27 / 2008

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 7:46 pm eastern time, 10/27/2008

The market opened lower on Monday but the early weakness was
reversed about 10 minutes into the day and the SP futures
rallied from 852.25 to 881.75 before the move fizzled. The
market pulled back, with the SP futures falling to 866.50
before turning back up. A double top formed as the SP
futures turned down from 881.50 and the market pulled back
again. The selling was relatively calm, and after pulling
back from a third try to get through the 882 level, the
market finally took off to the upside. The rally reversed
after poking over the 893.00 resistance level, and a steady
selloff followed. The 865.25 level on the SP futures was
reversed, but the SP futures couldn't get back over the
877.50 level and rolled over and fell to the 864-863 area
with 15 minutes left in trading. A bounce was reversed, and
with 10 minutes left in stock trading that zone was broken
and a "long covering" panic hit an air-pocket as the market
fell fast to new lows for the day (and year for the SP500)
in the final minutes of trading.

We get the Consumer Confidence number 30 minutes in to the
trading day on Tuesday. The SP futures reached the key
support at the 835.00-834.50 zone and closed in it on
Monday. The SP futures settled about 15 points under fair
value, so a sizable drop in stock prices in factored into
the open on Tuesday. If this holds overnight, then the first
hour will be a volatile one.

The rallies are not sticking, and all of the bottom pickers
are now holding a losing position on the SP futures. On
Tuesday look for early weakness to set up a buying
opportunity if there is a reversal in the first 15 minutes
of trading. If you want to wait until the Consumer
Confidence number is released before getting involved, that
wouldn't be a bad idea. If there is a decent rally attempt
on Tuesday, it will be sold as soon as the upside loses
momentum and the move starts to roll over. In order to get
the market into a neutral position, the 876.00-877.00 area
on the SP futures and the 1210.50-1211.25 area on the Nasdaq
futures both will need to be exceeded, and then hold over
870.00 on the SP futures and 1198.00 on the Nasdaq futures
on a pullback.

The first hurdles on Tuesday are at the 863.00-864.00 area
on the SP futures and 1191.25-1192.25 area on the Nasdaq
futures. If those are reached, the market should reverse. If
the market gets up there and doesn't reverse, then the
876.00-877.00 area on the SP futures and 1210.50-1211.25
area on the Nasdaq futures would be the first key resistance
areas. If those are exceeded, and a pullback holds, then a
test of the Monday highs at the 893.00-894.00 area on the SP
futures and 1227.50-1228.50 area on the Nasdaq futures could
be in the cards.

The initial support is at the 834.50-833.50 area on the SP
futures and 1158.25-1157.50 area on the Nasdaq futures. If
buyers keep their hands in their pockets and those are
broken, then the move could continue right on down towards
the 823.50-822.50 area on the SP futures and 1149.00-1147.50
area on the Nasdaq futures. If there isn't a reversal from
that area, then the market will likely go for the 816.00-
815.00 area on the SP futures and 1138.50-1136.50 area on
the Nasdaq futures. If there is no turn around from those
areas, then we could see the 2002 low at the 768 level on
the SP500 cash turn into a magnet. That would be an 80 point
drop on the SP500 cash, and first limit down on the SP
futures would be at 774.70 on the SP futures. So if the
market goes limit offer, and the SP500 cash reaches 768 and
then begins to rally, a good reflex rally is possible.
However, if the market gets down there and can not get
turned back up, a mini crash is in the works.

TradeStalker's RBI Update 10/26/08

.................................................

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

10 / 26 / 2008

(Published Since 1996)

...............................................

Dateline: 6:14 pm eastern time, 10/26/2008

After being locked limit down before the open on Friday, the
limits came off on the open and the SP futures traded at
835.00 in the pit and turned up immediately. The run up took
the SP futures up to 888.00 just before noon. The market
pulled back and fell to 857.25 with about 2 hours left in
the trading day. The market rallied back to the 880 area and
reversed, but then that was exceeded and the SP futures
popped to 896.50 and the move fizzled. Selling came in in
the last hour and the market sold off to 862.50 by the
close.

Despite what could have been a good low on Friday, the
market is still acting poorly. It seems that most everyone
is calling a bottom down here, but before getting out of
trouble the market needs to get above the Friday highs and
not reverse per usual of late. We should also get good
volume on a rally that sticks in order to believe it.

On Monday look for a buying opportunity if there is early
weakness and it reverses back up within the first 20-40
minutes. If that plays out, beware that the first decent
bounce will likely be sold into as soon as the move fizzles.
The trends and momentum favor the bears, so unless the
market gets over the Friday highs and sticks, the short side
should continue to offer the better odds trades.

The initial resistance is at the 893.00 level on the SP
futures and the 1223.25 level on the Nasdaq futures. If
those are exceeded, then the 898.00-899.00 area on the SP
futures and the 1229.50-1230.50 area on the Nasdaq futures
is the key resistance on Monday. If the market gets up there
and doesn't have a problem getting through those areas, then
things could be changing. The next hurdles would be at the
905.50-906.00 area on the SP futures and the 1238.50-1340.25
area on the Nasdaq futures. If the move over the Friday
highs is a fake-out, then a reversal could occur from there.
If the market plows through those areas then the next key
resistance is up at the 922.50-923.50 area on the SP futures
and the 1255.50-1257.00 area on the Nasdaq futures.

The initial support is at the 857.00 level on the SP futures
and the 1180.50 level on the Nasdaq futures. If those break
then there should be strong support near the 855.00-854.50
area on the SP futures and the 1174.00-1173.00 area on the
Nasdaq futures if the market is not going to cave in again.
If those areas are broken, and the market doesn't quickly
turn back up, then the 840.00-838.50 area on the SP futures
and the 1158.50-1156.50 area on the Nasdaq futures should be
magnets. If those are broken, then major support is at the
835.00-834.50 area on the SP futures and the 1150.75-1149.75
area on the Nasdaq futures. If those are broken and not
reversed, then a drop towards the 814.00-812.00 area on the
SP futures, and possibly towards the 2002 low on the SP500
cash at 768.63 before a bottom is put in.

Definition of the "Last Trapped"

Definition of "Last Trapped"

For those of you who are not familiar with my set ups, here is a definition of "Last Trapped"

I refer to "Last Trapped" areas as being areas where traders who were shorting or covering long positions were left behind as the market moved up fast. Traders who were maybe not using a stop would have been trapped there, and as the market moves back up to that area those traders will be looking to get whole again and buy the market.

I often incorporate "Last trapped" areas in finding the next day's support and resistance levels. I cover "Last Trapped" areas in depth in my new course, "Read the Greed-LIVE!"

CLICK HERE to watch a video I made of the "LAST TRAPPED".

Video - Trading "Pops" and "Fizzles"

Hey Guys,

We have 18 minute video for you on trading "pops" and
"fizzles".

IMPORTANT NOTE: Though this is a similar format as the
videos in "Read the Greed-LIVE!" (you can see Mike's charts,
hear him speak, etc), the videos in the "Read the Greed-
LIVE!" course are of Mike's personal set ups found in his e-
book, and they are more in depth, detailed, and of a better
video quality.

The futures are locked limit down this morning. It might
be a good day to wait things out for an hour or so and
then see what's going on. Watch the cash indices when
the market opens. If they are well below the limit on the
futures, the futures will re-open at or below that price.

Good trading,

We had some email issues today. Our apologies. Hopefully
they are fixed by now. If you aren't using our "chat room"
page, you should. It's at:

http://www.tradestalker.com/RBIchat.htm

There is additional commentary and the updates aren't
hindered with email issues. Also, I might be putting on a
headset and walking folks through a few trades soon.

In addition, case you haven't heard, we are having a one-
week sale of "Read the Greed - Live!". If you ever wondered
"what's he looking at when he says it's a 123 top?" or
"how'd he get support/resistance there, and how was it
traded?" then wonder no more. I'm giving away the farm here,
but for just 7 days. This is an effort to help YOU with your
trading. This low price will not be seen again. To get in on
this deal you need to go here:

Okay, back to the future....

regards, Mike

An early pop was sold on Thursday and the SP futures dropped
from 908.50 to 881.50 in the first 30 minutes of trading.
The market reversed went on a run up to 923.25 SP futures
and then the move fizzled. A pull back to 909.25 on the SP
futures held and then they bounced to a lower high at 917.75
and reversed. That triggered another 123 top and then
selling came in. The downside only paused at 873.50 and
after a "tiny" 12 point bounce they fell to an 856.00 low
and turned up. The bounce had some gusto, but reversed from
880.00 and the market pulled back. A higher low was made at
858.50 and it reversed and a 123 bottom pattern set up a
rally to the 894.00 updated resistance. The first attempt to
push through failed, and the SP futures fell from 893.25
back to 873.50 and then reversed back up. The 884.00 level
was broken through in the last 30 minutes and held, and the
SP futures rallied back to 916.50 by the close.

All of the averages except for the Dow again made new lows
for the year on Thursday, and the market made a nice
comeback at the end of the day. The averages all made good
bottoming patterns before taking off at the end of the day.
This move has a decent chance of following through given
that the market had a pretty good bid coming off of the lows
on Thursday. How long the upside lasts before another drop
occurs is up in the air, but a decent reflex rally is due.

On Friday look to short early strength if there is a turn
back down in the first 20-40 minutes of trading. If that
plays out, then beware that the first decent pullback should
set up a buying opportunity. As long as the initial support
is not broken, the market will be "ok" and the bulls will
feel more comfort. However, if the initial support is broken
then the trends roll back over and the bounces would be
shorting opportunities.

The initial resistance at the 916.50-917.00 area on the SP
futures and 1254.75-1256.75 area on the Nasdaq futures. If
those are not cleared then the market is still in trouble.
If they are cleared and not quickly reversed, then the
922.50-923.25 area on the SP futures and 1264.25-1265.50
area on the Nasdaq futures would be the next hurdles. If the
market gets above those areas, and doesn't reverse, then we
could see the buying begin to feed upon itself and drive
prices higher. The next big resistance would be at the
930.50-931.00 area on the SP futures and 1282.50-1284.50
area on the Nasdaq futures. If the market gets that far, and
the move backs off, it could begin a decent selloff. If
something happens to kick the upside in gear, then we could
see the 950.50-951.50 area on the SP futures and 1303.75-
1305.00 area on the Nasdaq futures.

The initial support is at the 896.50-896.00 area on the SP
futures and 1236.00-1234.50 area on the Nasdaq futures. If
those areas are broken, then the market could get hit with
selling again. The next support is at the 884.00-883.50 area
on the SP futures and 1228.75-1227.75 area on the Nasdaq
futures. If the market doesn't hold those areas, then
another drop towards the 873.50-872.50 area on the SP
futures and 1197.00-1195.00 area on the Nasdaq futures is
likely. If those do not hold, then the 856.00 level on the
SP futures and 1175.25 level on the Nasdaq futures need to
hold or else we will go towards the 840.00-838.00 area on
the SP futures which would need to hold to avoid going for
the 768 level or lower.

TradeStalker's

R.B.I. Trader's Update

10 / 22 / 2008

(Published Since 1996)

The market gapped down on the open on Wednesday and the move
reversed after about 30 minutes of trading. The SP futures
turned up from 910.50 and rallied to the 931.00-932.00
updated resistance area. A wedge pattern built and after
turning down from 931.00, the market rolled over and fell to
906.00 by early afternoon. A bounce failed at 916.50 and the
market hit the skids. A sharp drop to 872.50 was reversed
with about 15 minutes left as the market snapped back
sharply into the close.

The SP500 and Nasdaq 100, among other averages made new low
closes for the year. The Dow was the exception. Meanwhile,
my internal indicators all have higher highs than the
October 10th low. That's a good bullish divergence and under
normal conditions this would be very bullish. The closing
Trin was also 5.00, a sign of some capitulation. This
occurred a week ago on October 15th and the market rallied
nicely on the 16th.

That said, the market has a lot going for it at this
juncture and needs to make good on this set up, otherwise
things are in bad shape and there could be another 10% to go
on the downside. As long as the market can hold the
Wednesday lows the bulls should be in the driver's seat. The
market did come flying back off of those Wednesday lows,
which was a good "save" for the bulls. The market went down
to the lows on Wednesday with some good momentum, so a
retest without the same momentum would be a key test of the
strength, or lack thereof, of the market short term.

On Thursday look for early strength to set up a shorting
opportunity as soon as the upside stalls out and begins to
roll over. If that plays out, then the Wednesday lows would
need to hold on a pullback. If those areas do not hold, then
the market could head for the 840.00-838.50 area on the SP
futures, maybe even lower, before a decent turn around
occurs.

The initial resistance is at the 910.50-911.00 area on the
SP futures and the 1254.00-1255.00 area on the Nasdaq
futures. If the market pops up there and reverses on
Thursday, then a test of the Wednesday lows is still
possible in the morning. If those are exceeded then the
trends can turn back up and the next resistance would be at
the 916.00-916.50 area on the SP futures and the 1264.00-
1264.50 area on the Nasdaq futures. If the market gets up
there and doesn't have trouble getting through those areas,
then the key hurdles on Thursday are at the 930.50-931.50
area on the SP futures and the 1282.75-1284.50 area on the
Nasdaq futures. If those are not broken, then the market
still has work to do to avoid trouble. If those are exceeded
and held, then a rally to the 950.50-951.50 area on the SP
futures and the 1303.75-1305.00 area on the Nasdaq futures
is possible.

The initial support is at the 890.50-889.75 area on the SP
futures and the 1234.00-1233.00 area on the Nasdaq futures.
If those areas do not hold, then a test of the 872.50-872.00
area on the SP futures and the 1208.50-1207.50 area on the
Nasdaq futures would need to be quickly reversed if the
market is going to avoid trouble. If those areas are tested
and the market doesn't reverse, then the door is opened for
a drop towards the 840.00-838.50 area on the SP futures and
the 1176.50-1174.50 area on the Nasdaq futures. If the
market gets down there and doesn't quickly reverse, then a
drop towards the 812.50-811.50 area on the SP futures and
the 1144.50-1142.50 area on the Nasdaq futures could be in
the cards.
